The target audience consists of a Demographic and Psychographic target audience. A demographic target audience takes into account people age, gender, location and also there social class, whereas a psychographic target audience takes into audience peoples interests.
Demographic Target Audience
The Demographic target audience for my magazine is people of both genders who are aged between the age of 15 and 40 who are located anywhere in the country and are of working/middle class. The reason i picked the age range i did was because the magazine is going to be about music that interests people in both ages, so for example people who are between the ages of 35-40 will be interested in bands such as Oasis, The Stone Roses and The Smiths whereas people who are in there 20's they'll be interested in bands like The Libertines and The Strokes and with people who are between the ages of 15-20 will enjoy bands like Arctic Monkeys, Kasabian and Courteeners will interest them. Overall my magazine will try to aim for an audience who likes most of these bands and other bands of this type of genre of music. I decided to aim my magazine at both genders because the genre of indie music is one that both genders can enjoy as it attracts them both and with the bands that i have listed they have a fan base with a mixture of people as both genders can relate to the music. Men may like this genre because of the guitar riffs in the songs or the lyrics and the atmosphere they get at gigs, this may be the same with women but they may also like a band due to the frontman of a band as they may be attracted to them.
Psychographic Target Audience
The psychographic target audience is people who have interest in music and in particularly indie music however, it may also interest people who enjoy music in general. Furthermore the magazine may interest people who are in a indie band and may take inspiration from bands and artists that feature in my magazine also people who enjoy going to gigs will like the magazine.
